Roni Parker Memorial Scholarships
There are two categories, each with its own criteria and application process.
 
Qualifications (for both):
  • Graduating senior
  • GPA of at least a 2.5
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Additional criteria depends on each scholarship
Awarded: One $1000 scholarship and two $250 scholarships

California Legislative Black Caucus Youth Leadership Scholarship
 
Qualifications:
  • You must be attending or accepted to a two-year community college, a four-year college or university, or a vocational school
  • Spouses, domestic partners, siblings and children of California Legislative Black Caucus members and their staff are ineligible
Awarded: Scholarships will be disbursed to successful applicants with proof of enrollment

The Engineers' Council 2010 Scholarship
 
Qualifications:
  • High school seniors planning a career in Engineering, Mathematics, or Science
  • Expect to enroll in college for the Fall 2010 academic term
Awarded: Scholarships for students who plan to continue their education and plan a career in the field of Science, Engineering and Mathematics

San Fernando Valley Chapter of Jack and Jill of America Scholarship
 
Qualifications:
  • African American senior

Center for Student Opportunity Scholarship
 
Qualifications:
  • graduating high school senior attending school in the US

  • first generation college student and/or
  • limited financial resources
  • underrepresented/minority groups (African-American/Black, American Indian/Alaska native, Hispanic/Latino, Asian/Pacific Islander)

Ruben Salazar Memorial Scholarship
 
Qualifications:
  • Students who desire to continue their education in either a community college or state university
  • Must be a graduating senior attending a LAUSD High School, Continuation School, or enrolled in a High School Completion Program at a LAUSD Community Adult School
Awarded: Scholarships are awarded each Spring

Christa McAuliffe Scholarship
 
Qualifications:

Qualifications:

Qualifications:
  • Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA

The Sylvia Meyerhoff Memorial Scholarship
 
Qualifications:
  • Preference shall be given to women

2010 Youth Scholarship Program
 
Qualifications:
  • Children of active duty law enforcement and fire service personnel in the State of California who are graduating from high school in 2010
  • Students who have excelled academically
  • Must be active in community service and extracurricular activities at their school 
Awarded: $16,500 in funds

Aero Club of Southern California Scholarship
 
Qualifications:
  • High school students who plan to pursue a career in aviation or aerospace
  • Must have now and maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Must be full time students now and when the scholarship will be used
Awarded: Scholarship grants of up to $2,500

Valley Youth Conference Scholarship
 
Qualifications:
  • Must have been a certified participant on a Valley Youth Conference team (West Valley Eagles, Chatsworth Chiefs, etc) for a minimum of one complete Football or Cheerleading Season
  • High school senior, planning to attend a College, University or Trade School
  • Must submit application, essay on your participation, and high school transcripts
Awarded: Four $1,000 scholarships (two for Football Players, two for Cheerleaders)

Stonewall Scholarship
 
Qualifications:
  • 11th, 12th grade or any students who are enrolled in a high school completion program
  • Submit application as well as essay, poster or poem entry
Awarded: Several scholarships of varying amounts

Deadline: No entries will be accepted after 5PM on Friday March 7, 2010. Entries may be submitted by mail or dropped off at the UTLA location.
 

Ruben Salazar Memorial Scholarship
 
Qualifications:
  • Graduating seniors who attend eny LAUSD high school, continuation school, or are currently enrolled in a high school completion program
  • Students who desire to continue their education at either a community college or state university
  • Sumbit a poem or essay on one of the suggested topics
Awarded: Several awards ranging in amount

Exxon Mobil Bernard Harris Math and Science Scholarships
 
Qualifications:
  • African American or Hispanic students currently completing their senior year of high school
  • Must have academic achievement, leadership skills or community service skills in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Must have been accepted as a full-time student at a four-year institution or higher education
Awarded: Four scholarships for two boys and two girls, with a value of $ 5,000 each, will be awarded to two African American and two Hispanic students

Seiji Isomoto Scholarship Fund
 
Qualifications:
  • One or both parents must be Asian
  • Students must have attended school in the LA or Orange County
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 in all academic classes
  • Student must have lettered in a high school VARSITY sport
  • Student must be college bound
Awarded: A scholarship in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to one male and one female recipient

Hope Scholarship
 
Qualifications:
  • Graduating senior from Canoga Park, Chatsworth, Cleveland and Reseda High School
  • Participating in community activities and/or volunteer programs

  • Demonstrating financial need
Awarded: One $1,000 award each to a Canoga Park, Chatsworth, Cleveland and Reseda High School senior

Doodle 4 Google Competition
 
Qualifications:
  • Students of grades K-12, including home-schooled students in the US
  • US resident
  • Must have obtainef their parents' or legal guardians' prior permission
  • Must agree to participate in any Media Activity
  • Employees, interns, contractors of Google or its affiliates are not eligible
Awarded: Over 400 awards ranging from a laptop computer to a $15,000 scholarship

2010 CalRTA Jill Kinmont Boothe Scholar Athlete Scholarship
 
Qualifications:
  • Candidates will be selected on the basis of academics, athletics, leadership, school and community services and a 3.0 or higher GPA

Orel Beaver Berry Scholarship
 
Qualifications:
  • African-American graduating high school senior with at least one African-American parent

  • Submit a copy of the applicant's African-American family tree chart for 3 generations

The 2010 Alexander Hamilton Citizenship Achievement Award
 
Qualifications:

Sodexo Foundation Stop Hunger Scholarship
 
Qualifications:
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited institution (grades K-12)
  • Must have demonstrated on-going commitment to their community by performing unpaid volunteer services impacting hunger in the United States at least within the last 12 months.
  • Volunteer services must be helping non-family members.
Awarded: Up to 5 winners will each recieve a $5,000 scholarship, as well as a $5,000 grant made in their name to the hunger-related charity of their choice in their local community.

Youth Automobile Safety Scholarship
 
Qualifications:
  • California resident attending senior year of high school
  • Minimum GPA of at least 3.0
  • Must have been accepted to an accredited two- or four-year college or university, or trade school in the US with intent to enroll as a full-time freshman by the Fall 2010 session
  • Applicant's parent or legal guardian must be currently employed full-time (if retired or deceased, must have been amployed full-time) by a government entity.
Awarded: Up to two $1,000 and eight $500 scholarships

Qualifications:
  • Be an African-American high school senior within the County of Los Angeles
  • Have at least a B+ (3.5) GPA and an SAT score that meets the University of California admissions standards
  • Show evidence of worthy character, promise and leadership qualities
  • Show need of financial assistance to continue his/her education
Awarded: Several awards are available including a $2,000 scholarship based solely on academic excellence.

Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship for First Years
 
Qualifications:
  • Female high school seniors who intend to be enrolled in or accepted as a full-time student at a university in the U.S. for the 2010-2011 academic year
  • Must intend to be enrolled in or accepted for enrollment in a baccalaureate Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or a related program
  • Able to demonstrate a commitment to and passion for computer science and technology
Awarded: A group of female scholars will awarded, recipients will each recieve a $10,000 award for the 2010-2011 academic year

USA Funds Access to Education Scholarships
 
Qualifications:
  • Have an annual adjusted gross family income of $35,000 or less, as documented on a 2009 federal 1040 income tax return
  • Plan to enroll or are enrolled in full- or half-time undergraduate or full-time graduate or professional degree coursework at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school. GED recipients also are eligible. Students must plan to enroll or be enrolled beginning with the fall 2010 term through Feb. 1, 2011.
  • Are U.S. citizens or eligible noncitizens. Students studying in the U.S. on an F1 visa are not eligible. Eligible noncitizens must be permanent U.S. resident aliens with a Green Card, or refugees with a Departure Record (Form I-94) from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

Cuban American Teachers' Association
 
Qualifications:
  • high school students of Cuban descent who are planning to continue their educatioon at the college level
  • Applicants should have at least a 3.0 GPA, be active in school and community affairs, speak acceptable Spanish and demonstrate an interest in their cultural heritage
Awarded: One first place scholarship has a $500 value, and the rest have a value of $300.

Vegetarian Resource Group Scholarship
 
Qualifications:
  • Must be a graduating U.S. high school senior student who has promoted vegetarianism in their school or community
  • Award based on compassion, courage and commitment to promoting a "peaceful world through a vegetarian diet or lifestyle"
  • Applicants should submit transcripts and at least three recommendations
Awarded: Two awards of $5,000 each

Awarded: Four winners (two girls and two boys) will each be awarded $2,500.
How to enter: Submit a completed Los Angeles Clippers Stay in School Scholarship application, send a copy of your transcript (with SAT scores), a letter of recommendation from a high school faculty member, a 300-word essay on the topic "Why college is important to me"

Gates Millenium Scholars Program
 
Qualifications:
  • African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American
  • Are a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the U.S.
  • Have attained a cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 on an unweighted 4.0 scale or have earned a GED
  • Will be enrolling for the first time at a U.S. accredited college or university as a full-time, degree-seeking, first-year student in the fall of 2010
  • Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities
  • Meet the Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria
Awarded: Funding throughout their academic careers-- undergraduate  through doctoral degree in GMS-funded fields
How to enter: There are three forms to submit (Nominee Form, Nominator Form for the applicant, and a Recommender Form for the applicant). Forms are available on the www.gmsp.org website

The William S. Davila Scholarship Fund
 
Qualifications:
  • Students working in the food industry or sons or daughters of parents working in the food industry in certain areas of Southern California. (The food industry is defined as retail supermarket companies, manufacturers, brokers or distributors of food products sold in retail food stores.)
  • High school seniors graduating in the year of application from a public school in certain counties of Southern California.
  • Students planning to enroll in a full-time course of study at an accredited four-year college or university no later than the fall term following selection of awards.
  • Individuals working in a fast food or regular restaurant are not eligible to apply.

Annual Student Screenplay Contest

  • Open to all LA county high school students
Awarded: One first prize of $1,000 and a spot in the USC summer writing program, one second place prize of $750.00, and one third place prize of $500.00
