Career Counseling and Job Placement is Available through the Career Center

Mr. Nogy in the Career Center
The ROP (Regional Occupational Program) program is designed to allow students to earn credits toward graduation while taking classes or working at a jobsite away from Canoga High. The most popular ROP class at Canoga High is the Retail Sales Clerk class, which places students at businesses in Topanga Plaza and Fallbrook Mall. Students work at the businesses as regular employees while earning anywhere from 10 to 15 credits.

Another means of earning ROP credits is to attend classes at West Valley Occupational center in Woodland Hills. Many CPHS students go to WVOC on Saturdays or weekday evenings and can earn from 5 to 10 credits towards graduation in these classes. The most popular classes at WVOC are Auto Body, computer Literacy, and Typing. A complete list of classes can be picked up in the Career Center from Mr. Nogy.

Students can also take classes right here on campus. The Graphic Design class taught by Mrs. Howes is an official ROP class and can earn a Canoga student anywhere from 10 to 15 credits for the semester. Other popular ROP classes currently being taken by Canoga students are the Careers with Children Class that meets at Cleveland High and the West Valley Children’s Center near Canoga Park Elementary. We also offer the Hospital Clerk class which meets at West Hills Hospital. Both classes meet on a daily basis.

If you have any questions on these or any other ROP class, see Mr. Nogy in the Career Office for more details.
